Dean Ortiz

For more than ten years, Victoria Ortiz was the Dean of Students at the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall, School of Law.  She supervised the Law School’s Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Services, Registrar, and Career Development Departments. In addition, Dean Ortiz developed and taught an innovative course, “Spanish for Lawyers,” which gives law students with the opportunity to improve and hone their Spanish-speaking skills in a variety of legal contexts.

After working as a lawyer in the private and public sectors, Dean Ortiz served as the Dean of Students and Director of Admissions at several law schools.  She has reviewed literally thousands of law school application files.  In addition, Dean Ortiz has extensive experience successfully advising traditional and non-traditional applicants on all aspects of the law school application process.  Dean Ortiz has also worked with and counseled hundreds of law students on various academic and non-academic aspects of their law school careers.

Dean Ortiz has worked with a wide variety of law students (traditional, disabled, older, diverse, LGBTQ, International, transfers) and helped them succeed in their J.D., LL.M., and J.S.D. law school programs.
