The Law School ACEs team is made up of professionals who not only have earned J.D. and advanced degrees, but also have decades of experience in both law school admissions and law school student services offices. In addition, Law School ACEs will provide you with experts who have been law school teachers as well as admissions officers. Dean Ortiz was Dean of Students at UC Berkeley’s School of Law, Boalt Hall/Berkeley Law, for ten years, where she supervised Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Services, Registrar, and Career Development. In that role, she was directly involved in all aspects of admissions: recruiting, reviewing files, admitting (and denying) applicants. These were roles that Dean Ortiz also assumed as the founding Dean of Students and Director of Admissions at UC Irvine’s School of Law. Dean Ortiz has also taught high school, college, and law school classes.
Professor Elrod has taught first-year and upper-division courses (Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, First Amendment, Federal Courts) in several public and private law schools. She also has extensive experience as an admissions recruiter and as a faculty member of Admissions Committees. In addition to a J.D., Professor Elrod holds an LL.M. and a J.S.D., specializing in First Amendment Law. She has published in a number of top-tier law reviews.
The Law School ACEs team has more than 25 aggregate years of working in various aspects of law school admissions, from outreach and recruiting, to advising undergraduates on admissions issues; from reviewing applicant files to admitting (or denying) applicants.

Law School ACEs’ applicant-centered experts will always work with you as an individual to help you select the law schools to which you will be applying. We begin by asking you to complete a personal questionnaire in which you provide us with information about yourself, your interests, your activities, you expectations, your needs. We will review your answers and dialogue with you about your own thoughts on where you might like to go to law school. Together we will tailor your applications to find the best possible fit for you in the law schools to which you apply.
No reputable law school admissions consulting company can make such a guarantee. Law School ACEs will do its best to steer you to law schools that appear to be appropriate to your interests, needs, personality, and academic strengths and performance. Law School ACEs’ experts will work closely with you on your personal statement, but we will not write it for you. We will guide you and provide helpful editorial comments and will review several drafts, to make sure you submit a strong document with your applications.
